I surely am no longer a kid anymore. But i kinda felt that this day would be one of reminiscent, as soon as i got up to read my, 'Happy children's day" sms. It got me reminded of my younger wilful( still am) days as a kid.
I was ever so enchanted with toys. I used to not miss any single 'Toys R Us' catalogue every December. I actually used to save up for a particular toy i wanted, only to be paid by my dad at the cashier. There were times when i used to cry every time my mum refused to buy me a toy, but the attraction for the earlier toy would soon be changed as soon as i set my eyes on another toy. I still remember the Play dough I received for my 7Th birthday,(which i was only allowed to play with in the balcony on Saturdays), Polly Pockets which were ranging from various colours and sizes( i still have them now), the cup-cake dolls, the kitchen sets, the toy cash register( which i never got) and many more.
Apart from the toys, the times when the mischievous me would get hurt practically every week from falling, due to 'Police and Thieves" sure gives me a nostalgic feeling, with which i think of fondly, though, some of the scars are still apparent. Playing with my friends and cousins, meant so much to me that i didnt mind the scars or the pain as i would really look forward to those times.
I also remember the cartoons which made up the major part of my childhood, which i miss even till now. My favourite was Casper, the friendly ghost. I liked TMNT, Looney Tunes, Popeye the sailor man,The Chipmunks, Duck Tales etc. Every Saturday morning, i would wake up feeling excited to watch the cartoons. I was very intrigued and fascinated with them.
Well, looking back, i am glad to think that i had a memorable childhood indeed, despite the times when it was nearly held captive( due to school, never-ending homework etc). I guess this is what they mean by Light years, as you can never get it back again.
