I was nearly doing a walk-a-jog, this afternoon, not because i was late but because i wanted to scramble from the heat and get indoors asap. It was scorching hot and i was going to catch a movie. I hopped into the train as soon as it came. There were many school students among the daily afternoon 'crowd'.
A lady in pink scurried to the seat beside me as though she was paranoid that i was going to occupy the seat beside mine too. After a few seconds, i realized that an empowering odor came from her. Yes, it was the infamous, B.O.( body odour). I glanced to my side and saw a few drops on sweat on her neck, and whats worse, her hair had a bad stench too. When she turned to look at me, i raised my eyes, rubbed my nose and looked away. That was supposed to send the 'you stink and it irks me!' signal.
The students in uniform too had a considerable wave of B.O spreading all over. Whats more, after i alighted from the train, another lady in front of me in the escalator, gave me another pungent hazard. I suddenly realized that this is actually a common sight or smell i should say, in our everyday journeys in public transport.
Its ironical that some people would out rightly close their nostrils when seated beside a person of a different colour, but in true fact, it is them who bear the excruciating odour. Its even crystal clear at times that these people don't shower in the morning, looking disarrayed , not forgetting the stinky yawns you get when u sit beside them.
A bold taxi driver once told me that, he hesitates to take Indians in a cab because they have this coconut smell on them. I thought that was a blatant racist remark and told him off. I told him that Indians smell like that due to the products they use, not due to their personal hygiene or the food they eat, like you people. I lodged a complain to the taxi company and received an apology. Yeah, that was all i got.
Well, its still apparent that toilet rolls don't ever meliorate.
